The smallest in the Solo range, the T15-93 HDS-A has both side discharge and mulching capabilities. The garden tractor has a 93cm sheet steel deck with a twin blade cutting system. Mountfield 1738H Lawn Tractor

The Mountfield 1738H Twin is a 98cm working width model with a hydrostatic transmission. This high specification garden tractor is manufactured in Europe, is built on a heavier chassis than some of its counterparts and is suitable for lawns up to 2 acres. This tractor now features the new powerful and smooth running Stiga ST600 586cc V-Twin engine. Light steering and a tight turning circle make it easy to manoeuvre around trees, borders and garden furniture with the minimum of effort. All Mountfield garden tractors cut wider than the wheel width, which means there is little trimming left to do after the lawns have been mown.

A hydrostatic transmission is similar in many ways to the gearbox on an automatic car, forward and reverse speeds are infinitely variable. To move forward, you simply press the front section of the pedal; the more firmly you press, the faster you will go. For reverse, press the rear section of the pedal. You can change from forward to reverse instantly, so manoeuvrability is fantastic. It is worth noting that once a customer owns a hydrostatic Mountfield tractor they don’t want to go back to a manual version. Grass cuttings are blown cleanly from the twin bladed cutter deck into a large capacity rear mounted collector. An alarm sounds to let you know when the collector is full, a valuable feature as there is nothing worse than overfilling the collector and then having to unblock the discharge chute by hand – at least you know when the collector is full on a Mountfield! Emptying the collector is done from the driving seat; just extend the lever on the collector and pull, the collector opens wide emptying out the clippings, no need to leave your seat. The seat is also adjustable for added comfort and ease of use. Engaging the cutter deck couldn’t be easier; pull out the control switch for “On” and push it in for “Off”. The deck has seven pre-set cutting heights ranging from 30mm to 90mm selected by using the lever located conveniently beside the seat.

A deck wash facility means keeping the deck clean couldn’t be simpler; just attach a hose to the snap-on connector, turn on the water and engage the blades. Water blasts around beneath the deck washing it clean - job done!

Mountfield 1330M is the first lawn tractor in the sub 84cm category to feature a twin bladed cutting system; the blades contra rotate and direct grass cuttings through the wide rear discharge chute into the collector. Collection is cleaner and more powerful due to the direct centre rear discharge, in conjunction with the throw and air volume generated by two blades. Powered by the Stiga ST400 414cc OHV engine, this model is light and easy to handle with an incredibly tight turning circle. Cutting heights range from 25mm to 80mm with 7 pre-set positions. Grass cuttings are blown into the 200 litre rear-mounted collector, that can be emptied from the driver's seat, simply pull the handle up and tip out the grass. This tractor has a comfortable high back seat which is adjustable to suit the driver. The seat also features a safety switch which cuts out the engine if the driver gets off the machine when the blades are turning. To engage the cutting blades, simply pull out the switch on the dashboard; the electric clutch does the rest. Turning off the blades is equally easy, simply push in the switch to engage a brake which stops the blades within 3 seconds. If you decide you don't want to collect your grass then this versatile mower can mulch or rear discharge the clippings by simply fitting a grass deflector or mulching plug. This is a hard working model from the Solo by Alko Premium Series with cruise control for larger areas. The Alko premium tractors offer the same cut and collection performance of the Comfort range based on a sturdier chassis with more powerful engine options and further improved ergonomics. The side by side forward and reverse pedals, simpler lever controlled catcher emptying and easily adjustable seat are good reasons to consider this range. Larger tyre options - for greater comfort and grip - and cast iron front axles (on some models) also add to their appeal. There are several models in the Premium range with a choice of engines, three cutting widths (95cm, 105cm & 123cm) and the option of push button catcher emptying on all models.
